Job summary

Meridia is hiring a consultant to advance first-mile intelligence through production area assessment, sourcing area analysis, and traceability. The role leverages a data lake, satellite-based insights, and in-situ farm plot data to connect commodity supply chains with origin production areas.

We seek expertise in geospatial ML, remote sensing, and scalable methodologies, with a focus on DCF/EUDR risk assessment and sustainable sourcing. Fully remote, 2–3 days per week engagement.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, or related field
• 10+ years of practical experience in applying statistical and earth observation techniques to agricultural applications
• Proficiency in Python, R, and Google Earth Engine
• Knowledge of tropical/subtropical agricultural systems and supply chains
• Experience with modelling approaches for supply chain analysis across heterogeneous datasets
• Strong geospatial data engineering skills (PostGIS, GDAL/Geopandas)
• Experience building reproducible analytical pipelines (Git; Docker is a plus)
• Ability to document methodologies with data provenance, assumptions and licensing
• Fluent English with strong remote collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate models and datasets for production area assessment and sourcing area analysis across commodities and origin countries
• Leverage in-situ farm plot datasets to train and validate models
• Adapt ML models to local agricultural contexts to improve prediction accuracy
• Create scalable, reproducible methodologies across geographies and commodities
