Job summary

Source.ag seeks a senior Staff Data Scientist in Amsterdam to own forecast accuracy for greenhouse harvests. You’ll design hybrids of crop physiology and climate with ML, build robust backtests, and ship models to production with our engineers.

You’ll work closely with data scientists, crop scientists, and growers to improve decision‑making. You’ll bring 10+ years of modelling experience, strong Bayesian and ML skills, and a bias for solving the hard, end‑to‑end system problem.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on modelling or forecasting of physical or real-world systems
• Deep expertise in time series and probabilistic forecasting with Bayesian methods
• Production-grade Python and engineering habits (Git, testing, CI/CD, Databricks, AWS)
• Strong communication with users and cross-functional teams
• Experience shipping models to production that remain robust as conditions change
• Background in MSc/PhD in a quantitative field
• Experience with AI-native tools and LLMs is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own the accuracy of harvest forecasts for tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers
• Diagnose and fix forecast issues across input data, plant sampling, and grower plans
• Design and build hybrid models combining crop physiology and climate with ML
• Build backtests, baselines, and uncertainty calibration for production monitoring
• Ship models to production with engineers and ensure reliable behavior
• Mentor and raise the bar for the data science team
