Job summary

Channable is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for its Core Group in Utrecht. You will lead 3 team leads and ~11 individual contributors, shaping the department vision, strategy, and roadmap in partnership with a Product Lead.

You will mentor engineers, drive high standards, improve processes, and foster a data-driven, accountable culture with clear performance management. 32+ hours per week and two days per week onsite in Utrecht are expected.

• Proven experience leading engineering managers or senior engineers (3 leads reporting to you).
• History of improving individual and team performance and engagement.
• Strong software engineering background with focus on high-quality design and trade-offs.

At Channable, we're building the future of eCommerce automation - and at the core of that vision is a world-class engineering organization. We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our Core Group, where you'll play a key role in integrating eCommerce channels.

About the role:

As a Senior Engineering Manager in the Core domain, you will lead an engineering department consisting of 3 team leads (your direct reports) who manage ~11 individual contributors.

You’ll be responsible for delivering maximum impact in the Core domain. You will partner up with an experienced Product Lead, with whom you will define and carry out a department vision, strategy, and roadmap. What you’ll do:

• Drive the Core roadmap by balancing the overall Channable strategy and the Core's specific opportunities
• Quantify success by defining and measuring success metrics for the domain as well as team performance
• Mentor and coach team leads to let them grow and excel at their jobs
• Drive for high engineering standards by implementing good software development practices and challenging the team to come up with good designs
• Improve and optimize processes that hamper productivity and can be more lean
• Build a high-performance culture through fostering accountability, being on top of performance management and focusing on employee engagement
• You work based on data when you can, and you ensure future decisions take data into account

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager leading team leads (preferred) or senior engineers
• You have demonstrable experience in improving individual and team performance, as well as engagement
• You have a history of being a software engineer and know how to build high-quality software and the trade-offs that are to be made
• Outstanding communication skills - you're just as comfortable talking to engineers as you are with stakeholders
• A mindset focused on pragmatism and growth - you care about setting a high standard for yourself and your team and you continue to reflect to become more productive with minimal technical debt

Some practical things we expect from you:

• You’re available for at least 32 hours per week
• You're willing to come to our Utrecht office for two days/week
• You have a valid work permit, and you're located in the Netherlands
