This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineer to work at the intersection of AI, software engineering, and developer experience. You will play a key role in exploring emerging technologies, building prototypes, and helping shape the technical direction of next-generation developer tools.

Working closely with senior engineers, researchers, product teams, and engineering organizations across the globe, you will turn promising technology opportunities into practical insights, experiments, and technical solutions.

The Netherlands team will focus on what comes next: exploring new ideas, building prototypes, evaluating emerging technologies, and connecting with the wider developer-tools community. While large-scale product engineering is driven by the broader DevEco organization, this team will act as an advanced technology hub—helping identify promising directions and validating them before they become part of future products.

A central focus will be the evolving relationship between developers and AI-powered coding systems. From intelligent IDE experiences and coding agents to agent orchestration, context engineering, evaluation, and verification, you will help explore how modern development environments can enable humans and AI to work together more effectively.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and prototype next-generation AI-native developer tools and technologies.
• Explore emerging IDE, coding-agent, and developer productivity technologies and assess their practical relevance.
• Develop technical prototypes, demonstrations, and experiments that turn new ideas into evidence.
• Contribute to the technical direction and research agenda for AI-powered software development and developer tooling.
• Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and approaches and provide clear technical recommendations.
• Work closely with international product, research, and engineering teams to explore and validate new concepts.
• Contribute deep technical expertise in software engineering, developer workflows, and AI-powered development.
• Help define experiments, evaluation methodologies, and technical approaches for emerging technologies.
• Engage with universities, research communities, startups, and industry experts to stay connected with new developments.
• Share technical insights and contribute to a culture of curiosity, strong engineering judgement, and innovation.

• Has deep hands-on experience in developer tools, IDE platforms, AI-powered software development, or agentic engineering.
• Is passionate about building things and enjoys turning emerging technology ideas into working prototypes and practical solutions.
• Has strong software engineering skills and experience working on complex technical systems.
• Understands developer workflows and developer experience and is motivated by improving how developers build software.
• Can evaluate new technologies critically and make informed technical decisions.

• Communicates complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
