Shipcloud in Rotterdam is seeking a Senior Engineer to own design and evolution of backend services within our cloud ecosystem. You will translate product vision into scalable architecture, lead technical decisions, and ensure reliability, security, and cost-efficiency.

Collaborate with infrastructure and frontend teams to deliver high-quality software solutions using .NET, Azure, and modern cloud practices.

Qualifications

• 7–9+ years of experience in .NET development.
• Strong knowledge of C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core+ and related frameworks.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes environments (AKS or otherwise).
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and ORM tools like Entity Framework.

Responsibilities

• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services.
• Lead and participate in code reviews, raising quality.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues.
• Take ownership of non-functional requirements: cost, performance, reliability, and security.
• Acquire and share new knowledge in software and cloud technologies.
• Create monitoring and automated healing solutions to maintain reliability.
• Contribute to technical planning and support the team in breaking down and estimating work.

As a Senior Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of designing and evolving backend services within our growing cloud ecosystem. You will translate product vision into robust, scalable architecture, lead technical decisions, and ensure our services are reliable, secure, and cost-effective. You will collaborate closely with infrastructure and frontend specialists to deliver valuable outcomes.

About The Role

As a Senior Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of designing and evolving backend services within our growing cloud ecosystem. You will translate product vision into robust, scalable architecture, lead technical decisions, and ensure our services are reliable, secure, and cost-effective. You will collaborate closely with infrastructure and frontend specialists to deliver valuable outcomes.

Your mission

Mentor the team adopt best practices and automated workflows. Design, develop, and maintain cloud applications using .NET in Azure. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (UX/UI, QA, and product) to deliver high-quality software solutions, while proactively driving technical improvements.

• Proficiency in English (both spoken and written)
• HBO level of work and thinking
• 7–9+ years of experience in .NET development.
• Strong knowledge of C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core+, and related frameworks.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes environments (AKS or otherwise)
• Proficiency in working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL) and knowledge of Entity Framework or other ORM tools.
• Experience working as part of a development team
• Experience with quality standards: Automated reviews, integration tests and static analysis
• Comfortable taking technical ownership and coaching peers (informally or formally)
