Job summary

PhysIOL is seeking an R&D Engineer to support the development of consumable products for ophthalmic surgical devices. This full-time, on-site role based in Vierpolders, Netherlands, contributes to development from concept through commercialization while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, define design requirements, lead projects, perform analyses, and coordinate with manufacturing partners to deliver robust products on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in medical device industry, consumables preferred.
• Experience collaborating with clinicians and KOLs.
• Proven product development from concept to commercialization.
• Experience with cross-functional teams across full lifecycle.
• Familiarity with QMS and design controls in regulated env.
• Proficient in Dutch and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Marketing and R&D to define market needs and plans.
• Specify design requirements with cross-functional teams and clinicians.
• Provide technical and project leadership over complex design projects.
• Guide teams from concept to commercialization per design controls.
• Perform engineering analyses to support designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners to build robust products.
• Ensure budgets and schedules are planned and followed.
• Communicate status and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
