TheSeniorEmbedded Software Engineerdevelops innovative medical electrical systems and modules to enable surgeons to perform ophthalmological surgeries. You're part of the Technology Development Team, which has a large focus on first phases of the product lifecycle of mechatronics and control systems.Involving research, benchmarking and quick-to-fail prototyping.
The Senior Embedded Software Engineer works according to the companies design and development procedure and international regulations and standards for the Medical device industry. In this role you will collaborate with various disciplines within the company and report to the Technology Development Team Lead and Project Manager.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Feasibility studies and development embedded Medical Device Software through simulations, calculations, prototypes and/or experiments
- Developing and managing embedded Medical Device Software for eye surgery
- Derisk and Design of Mechatronics and Control systems for surgical equipment used for eye surgery
- Embedded Systems Architecture design and Integration of Mechatronic systemsFocus on Research Phase and Involvement in the full development life cycle, from system level and concept thinking to testing and verification
- Resolving problems and optimization on released products that affect product performance or safety
- Supervise new technologies in the development process
- Documenting Design, Verification and work instructions
Required skills and experience:
- Experience in applied Research, Technical Feasibility studies and Technology Derisking
- Bsc With proven experience
- Master / Phd Level
- Control Theory knowledge, creating and testing control algorithms. Specific experience with PID controllers (descrete), filters and motor control methods using microcontrollers.
- Embedded C and embedded development IDEs, extensive experience with microntrollers/DSPs and their peripherals, low level communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and volatile/non-volatile memories.
- Experience or familiarity with ‘model based design’ using MATLAB simulink, stateflow, and code generation.
- Simulation, Prototyping and Experimentation experience
- You have at least10 yearsof experience in a function involving cooperation with multidisciplinary teams
Preferred skills:
- Familiarity with VHDL, FPGAs, Xilinx toolchain and Zynq Architecture
- Experience with Python
- Experience with good coding practices and industry standards for safety critical software such as MISRA, IEC61508, etc, and static analysis tools
- Familiarity with Medical device standards (IEC62304 and IEC60601) or automotive functional safety standard IEC26262
- Experience and knowledge of electronics, reading schematics, and performing electronics measurements using laboratory tools
- Lab skills (Electronic Test and Measurement Equipment, Design-of-Experiments)
