Job description

Cassini Technologies is an ophthalmic technology company that has spent more than a decade advancing solutions for eye surgery, driven by curiosity, scientific rigor, and a focus on vision. The company designs flexible, connected technologies that adapt to the needs of surgical teams while maintaining interoperability and choice. Headquartered in The Hague, The Netherlands, Cassini collaborates with ophthalmic surgeons and clinics worldwide, supporting workflows from preoperative diagnostics through intraoperative visualization. Guided by principles of confidence, simplicity, and enduring value, Cassini develops solutions that help surgical teams work efficiently, consistently, and with clarity.

The Role

You research, prototype, and validate the algorithms behind our ophthalmic imaging and surgical guidance products. You take a question from idea to evidence: design the experiment, collect data hands-on in the lab, analyze it, and report conclusions that stand up to formal review. Your Python prototypes go into the product as-is, verified and validated.

What You Will Do

  • Research, prototype, and improve image processing and computer vision algorithms in Python
  • Design and run experiments: define data needs, acceptance criteria, and test setups
  • Analyze accuracy, precision, and repeatability of device measurements and algorithm output
  • Author test protocols and reports that pass formal QA/RA review
  • Translate product ideas into research specifications and working prototypes

What We Require

  • MSc in a relevant field plus 3 years of post‑graduation professional experience, or a PhD (recent graduates welcome; degree must be conferred at start date)
  • Strong Python: NumPy, SciPy, OpenCV; testable, maintainable code
  • Strong image processing / computer vision experience
  • Strong statistics for measurement systems: accuracy, precision, error analysis
  • Efficient and responsible use of AI tools in research and coding: you use them to work faster, and you verify what they produce
  • Clear technical writing; fluent English
  • Comfortable with hands-on lab work and occasional travel (EU/US)
  • Experience with medical device V&V, ophthalmic imaging, optics, deep learning, or clinical data is a plus.

We Offer

  • Salary in line with market rate for the role and experience level
  • Professional development supported through role‑relevant training, courses, and conferences - employee‑initiated
  • Office right next to The Hague central station
  • Standard office package: snacks, NS business card for work‑related travel, pension contribution
