Job summary

Axelera AI in Bristol, UK seeks a Director-level Engineering Manager to own silicon product engineering and the validation lab end-to-end—from tapeout to production. You’ll lead NPI, lab operations, and two technical departments, partnering with Design, Sales, and external manufacturing to drive multiple chip programs.

You will supervise senior engineers, recruit top talent, and translate executive strategy into concrete plans while safeguarding budget and headcount in a fast-growing

Qualifications

• A background spanning product, test, assembly, and qualification of complex SoCs — startup or high-growth exposure preferred.
• Deep command of ATE platforms and test program development from early silicon to volume.
• Strong grasp of reliability physics and qualification for automotive and datacentre standards.

Responsibilities

• Define the product engineering roadmap across silicon programs from tapeout to high-volume manufacturing.
• Oversee NPI decisions, vendor selection, and test strategy with external partners.
• Lead Bristol validation lab to scale, manage budget, standards, safety, and readiness.
• Build and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and lab technicians.
• Translate executive strategy into clear direction and report to the executive team, board, and key customers.
