Job summary

Qualinx in the Netherlands is seeking a Sr. Silicon Validation Engineer to design and execute test plans for SOCs integrating Digital, Analog and RF blocks.

You will run SoC bring-up, debug hardware and firmware, and verify performance across samples. You will develop Python scripts to automate measurements, work with FPGA-based pre-silicon debugging (Zynq), and collaborate with design, firmware, software teams to define digital test requirements.

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of digital circuits, memory and MCU architecture, with experience in low-power IoT.
  • Hands-on experience with bus protocols (AHB, APB) and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART).
  • Working knowledge of FPGA systems for pre-silicon debugging, especially Zynq processors.
  • Proficiency in firmware debugging and real-time troubleshooting; creating mini-fw to test HW.
  • Experience with automated test setups and concurrent lab tests on multiple products.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, power supplies).
  • Proficiency in Python for automation and data analysis; familiarity with Excel, databases, and Git.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate all digital functionalities.
  • Manage SoC bring-up, from component-level to full system operation.
  • Create Python/C scripts to automate tests and collect measurements with automated setups.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data to verify performance across samples.
  • Debug hardware, firmware, and digital interface issues; collaborate to implement solutions.
  • Document test procedures, validation results, and specifications for internal reference.

Job description

Responsibilities

As a Sr. Silicon Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing test plans to ensure the functionality and performance of SOC integrating Digital, Analog and RF components. This role requires hands‑on experience in debugging, analyzing, and characterizing SoCs through automated test setups.

  • Collaborating closely with the design teams, firmware, and software teams to define digital test requirements and validation plans.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive test plans to validate all digital functionalities.
  • Working on SoC‑level validation and bring‑up, managing tests from component‑level through to full system operation.
  • Creating Python/C scripts to automate tests and collect measurements using automated setups with digital test equipment.
  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to verify performance across various conditions for different samples.
  • Utilizing tools like Python for scripting and data handling to automate processes and enhance analysis.
  • Debugging and troubleshooting issues that arise during testing, including hardware, firmware, and digital interface issues, and collaborating with design, applications, and software teams to implement solutions.
  • Documenting test procedures, validation results, and specifications for internal reference and compliance.
Requirements

The ideal candidate for this Digital Validation Engineer role is detail‑oriented, proactive, and has a can‑do attitude, with the following qualifications:

  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of digital circuits, including memory and MCU architecture and digital interfaces, with experience in low‑power IoT systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with bus protocols (AHB, APB) and peripheral interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART).
  • Working knowledge of FPGA systems for pre‑silicon debugging, especially Zynq processors.
  • Proficiency in firmware debugging and real‑time troubleshooting using debugging tools and creating mini‑fw to test the HW.
  • Experience with automated test setups and conducting concurrent lab tests on multiple products.
  • Hands‑on experience with lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, signal generators, and programmable power supplies.
  • Proficiency in Python programming for automation and data analysis; familiarity with tools like Excel, database management, and version control software (e.g., Git).

  • Knowledge of GNSS technologies for precise location‑based IoT applications.
  • Experience in Power, Voltage, and Temperature (PVT) characterization and expertise in analog hardware testing.
