Job description

A great opportunity has opened for a Senior DevOps Engineer for a leading Financial Services Client of ours in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Contract Duration: 24+ months (2 year project)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Hours: 40

What you will do:

You will need to be able to configure and think outside the box on how to maintain and efficiently utilize our YML pipelines. Automate where things can be automated.

Since our detection system needs specific monitoring, you will be expected to pitch in to enhance our monitoring from certificate updates to loss of incoming data. With your Java skillset, you will also be expected to enhance our infrastructure together with your teammates and the Grid.

More in specific:

• Lifecycle management: updating software to make sure we always have releases that are within support and with the latest vulnerabilities fixed. Example: continuously upgrading software like Grafana, Telegraf, Java JVMs/JDKs to latest versions and automating that process.
• Operations work: pro-active monitoring of our infrastructure, making sure everything stays up and running and improving the observability whenever possible. Example: adding new dashboards in Grafana or adding alerts on things as an improvement after previous incidents, i.e. making sure these incidents don't happen again without us knowing it in advance and being able to act on it.
• Solving technical debt / increasing automation: getting rid of technical debt and implementing solutions that are optimized for maintainability and robustness. Example: all infrastructure-as-code and automating manual tasks (like certificate creation, patching pipelines, etc).

We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with a strong background in:

• Proven experience in operations, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
• Skills & Expertise – Mandatory: Proficient in Azure and Azure YAML pipelines. Strong Linux and Ansible skills. Expertise in monitoring and alerting systems.
• Nice to Have: Familiarity with Bicep, network knowledge, Apache Cassandra, Java, and Kubernetes.
• Methodology - Must be experienced in Agile development practices. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
