We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Azure DevOps professional (freelance) to lead our cloud infrastructure, development, and automation initiatives. This is a dynamic role perfect for someone with a robust background in cloud services, API development, security, and team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Leverage 5+ years of expertise with Azure DevOps, designing, building, and maintaining Azure DevOps YAML Pipelines.
• Develop, customize, and optimize Web APIs, collaborating with development teams working in .NET 8.0, and integrating with Azure ServiceBus and EventGrid for event‑driven architecture.
• Automate certificate renewal processes using Certbot, ServiceNow, or similar tools.
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Azure services, including KeyVaults, CosmosDB, Azure Storage, and API Management (APIM).
• Design and enhance mission‑critical applications for maximum performance, resilience, and security.
• Manage authentication and authorization workflows using Okta.
• Support the setup and configuration of Virtual Networks (VNets) in coordination with the DevOps team.
• Implement observability strategies using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics—establishing logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Lead incident response and on‑call operations via ServiceNow, developing automated runbooks, escalation workflows, and SLAs to ensure system reliability.
• Create automation for scaling, failover, and disaster recovery to enhance system resilience.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and post‑incident reviews to continuously improve system stability and reduce MTTR.
• Define, monitor, and report on SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs aligned with business goals.
• Engage in security and load testing to validate system resilience.
• Support API lifecycle management through Azure API Management and promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices, including ARM to Bicep conversions.
• Manage certificate lifecycle within pipelines and utilize Azure KeyVaults for secure secrets management.
• Support teams with CosmosDB, Azure Storage, and Managed Identities (a plus).

Preferred skills and experience

• Deep understanding of software architecture, security, scalability, and site reliability engineering.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and drive innovative solutions.
• Experience with creating playbooks and runbooks for operational excellence.
• Background in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (a plus).
• Hands‑on experience with security testing, load testing, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of GraphQL, ODATA, and GEO JSON for advanced data API services.

Location: Rotterdam area | Hybrid: 3 days remote working

Contract: 32/40 hours per week, initial 3‑month contract with possibility of renewal
