At KARL LAGERFELD, you will design market-relevant, commercial womenswear products in close cooperation with the responsible designers and support the Head of Design in daily responsibilities.

The Role

Design market-relevant, commercial products in close cooperation with the responsible designers and support the Head of Design in daily responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design womenswear knitwear and jersey following the design direction under the supervision of the Design Manager.
  • Create design tech packs and technical sketches to send to suppliers, including graphics and artworks.
  • Attend regular meetings with design, merchandising, retail and developers to present ideas, develop ranges and maintain strong ongoing business relationships.
  • Research materials, trends and markets.
  • Create design proposals through 3D perspective sketches and full-scale front views, ensuring detailed technical packs are completed.
  • Ensure thorough technical packs.
  • Travel to manufacturers and fairs when needed.

The Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in designing commercial knitwear and jersey.
  • Understands trends and translates them to KL women’s point of view.
  • Computer skills in Illustrator, Photoshop and PLS or other design software.
  • Ability to work with existing designs as well as create original ideas from them in order to offer innovation.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
  • Distinctive product taste level with the ability to judge and balance superior design taste and commercial viability.
  • Strong market research and fashion trend analysis skills, translating catwalk and street style inspiration into commercial and innovative designs.
  • Focus on customer with a deep understanding of brand positioning and target consumer.
  • Demonstrates brand passion by being enthusiastic, energetic and positive.
  • Flexibility to adjust easily to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • Ability to perform under fast-paced pressure in a highly dynamic, creative and commercial environment.
  • Works efficiently at a quick pace, in a structured and organized way, while keeping overview of ongoing processes.
  • Active team member who is proactive and supportive, contributing to a more effective and efficient team.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Able to translate actions into results that further strengthen the brand.
