Job summary

ViCentra is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead design and development of medical devices from concept through manufacture. You will own multiple projects, shape requirements, and ensure safety, effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory standards.

You will mentor peers and collaborate with management and vendors to deliver high-quality devices. Ideal candidates have a strong background in mechanical engineering, extensive SolidWorks experience, and a track record in regulated

As Senior Design Engineer, you will take the lead in designing and developing medical devices from first concept through to manufacture, owning multiple projects at once and making sure every product is safe, effective, and built to the standards the people who depend on them can trust. You will set the technical direction, shaping the requirements, specifications, and manufacturing methods that turn ambitious ideas into dependable devices.

This is a senior role where your experience sets the pace for the team around you. As ViCentra scales, you will guide technician colleagues, structure your own deliverables, and take ownership of the decisions that carry projects from prototype through to production. Your depth of expertise directly shapes the quality and reliability of the products at the heart of our mission.

What You’ll Take On

In your role, you will:

• Own multiple design projects from first concept through to production, driving each one to launch on time and on budget.
• Prototype, test, and refine across the full product development life cycle, learning fast and iterating with intent.
• Invent and optimise new manufacturing methods and techniques that bring ambitious designs to life at scale.
• Set the requirements and specifications that ground your ideas in reality, and build the mechanical testing, derisking plans, and protocols that prove them out.
• Run GMP process validations and complete the quality system documentation that lets new processes go live with confidence.
• Guide, mentor, and inspire colleagues, sharing your craft to lift the whole design team.
• Partner closely with management, peers, and vendors; articulating your thinking clearly to specialists and non-specialists alike.
• Champion compliance with every approved quality process and regulatory, legal, and company standard; because the people who depend on our devices are counting on it.
• Bring curiosity, energy, and a keen eye for detail to everything you touch — always hunting for better ways to solve the problems that matter to the people who use our devices.

What You Bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 7+ years designing and developing medical devices — or products in a similarly regulated industry, with a proven track record of carrying projects end to end.
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of designing and manufacturing small parts (fine mechanical engineering).
• Strong SolidWorks skills, paired with clear and confident technical writing.
• A self-starter who thrives on juggling multiple projects, and rolling up their sleeves to solve problems in a fast, timeline-driven environment.
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.
• A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is a strong plus.
• Injection moulding design and processing experience, plus time in a start-up or scale-up, are both a real bonus.
