Job summary

Netflix in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Media Science Data Science & Engineering (DSE) team, partnering with product management and cross-functional teams to scale data-driven production decisions and innovate content creation workflows.

You will own your research agenda end to end, applying causal inference methods, building metrics, and presenting insights to technical and non-technical partners across the organization.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience with causal inference methods and handling small samples.
• Strong statistical knowledge and intuition used in observational causal analysis and applied ML with business impact.
• Expert in SQL and Python.
• Proven ability to wrangle data, perform EDA, design metrics and tests, build causal inference solutions, and tell data stories to drive decisions.
• Strong communicator with ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Curiosity and ability to work in ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in the EMEA region and comfort with cross-cultural collaboration.
• Netflix culture resonates with you.
• Experience creating data products and dashboards (Tableau).
• Designing and analyzing A/B tests is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Be the second Applied Inference Data Scientist in Media Science DSE, shaping the discipline.
• Partner with PMs and leaders across Content Operations & Innovation, Finance & Strategy to scope questions.
• Identify metric research and causal inference opportunities to assess media innovation impact.
• Deliver research that ties production decisions to member and business outcomes.
• Own research end-to-end from design to interpretation and dissemination.
• Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical partners.
