Job summary

SR2 | Socially Responsible Recruitment | Certified B Corporation™ in The Hague seeks an experienced Senior Data Engineer / Migration & Modernisation Engineer to join a major enterprise data transformation programme. You will modernise and consolidate complex data workloads onto a Databricks Lakehouse platform, combining hands-on engineering with technical consulting.

Qualifications

Experience delivering data migration or modernisation programmes.
Hands-on Databricks and Spark engineering experience.
Experience modernising legacy ETL/ELT workloads and building reusable frameworks.

Responsibilities

Refactor legacy data pipelines, models and data products into scalable Lakehouse architectures.
Build production-ready pipelines using Databricks, Spark, Python/Scala, SQL and DBT.
Develop reusable migration accelerators, utilities, templates and reference implementations.
Assess existing pipelines and recommend migration and refactoring approaches.
Establish engineering patterns, standards and best practices.
Support data validation, reconciliation, testing and performance optimisation.
Collaborate with engineering teams, architects and business stakeholders.
Run technical workshops and design reviews.
Apply GenAI and AI agents to accelerate migration and documentation workflows.
