Job summary

ING Nederland in Amsterdam is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the WBAA Discovery team. You will turn ambiguous business questions into practical analytics solutions and shape AI opportunities for Wholesale Banking, with a focus on LLMs and RAG patterns.

You will collaborate across engineers, data scientists, and product owners, building scalable data pipelines, deploying cloud solutions, and delivering rapid PoCs in a fast-paced, risk-aware environment. Hybrid work setup encouraged.

Qualifications

• Strong Python programming and data engineering experience.
• Experience with Spark, Airflow, data quality frameworks.
• AI integration with LLMs (Gemini, Claude) and RAG patterns.
• Cloud architecture with CI/CD and containerisation (Docker).
• Ability to assess data feasibility and deliver PoCs.
• Experience with production-minded development environments.

Responsibilities

• Frame business problems and clarify requirements with stakeholders.
• Explore data and assess technical feasibility.
• Develop rapid proofs of concepts and prototypes.
• Translate findings into recommendations and handover packages for building teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, analysts, data scientists, UX, and product owners in a fast-paced discovery environment.
