Job summary

bol’s AdInsights team seeks a Senior Data Engineer to own end‑to‑end data pipelines and models powering advertiser insights. You’ll work on pipelines that combine advertising and commerce data, ensuring reliable, scalable data foundations for dashboards and APIs.

You will collaborate with analysts, engineers, product managers and advertising stakeholders to translate high‑level needs into robust data solutions and maintainable tooling at scale in Utrecht area.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL and Python skills with data modelling experience.
• Experience building and operating data pipelines, preferably with Airflow and dbt or similar tooling.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses; BigQuery experience is beneficial.
• Strong focus on data quality, observability, performance and maintainability.
• Ability to combine data from multiple sources into reliable datasets and metrics.
• Ability to work independently and explain technical trade-offs clearly.
• Experience with dashboards, APIs, Java or Kotlin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data pipelines that combine advertising and commerce data from multiple sources.
• Create clear and maintainable data models that support campaign performance insights.
• Write clean, well-tested Python and SQL for data processing and tooling.
• Orchestrate reliable workflows in Airflow, including monitoring and failure handling.
• Build data quality checks and observability to identify issues early.
• Optimise data processing for performance, scalability and cost.
• Expose reliable campaign data through advertiser-facing APIs and dashboards.
• Translate product needs into robust data solutions without detailed specs.
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, product managers and stakeholders.
• Contribute to CI/CD, code review, testing and documentation practices.
