Our Markets & Transactions team is looking for a Senior Consultant / Manager to join the team in Amsterdam

Baringa’s market-leading Power Advisory practice works with clients across the energy value chain: utilities, independent power producers, developers, network companies, commodity traders, industrials, investors, policymakers and regulators. We combine deep market, technical, commercial and regulatory expertise to help clients develop projects, deploy capital, and optimize value across the energy transition, including renewables, storage, clean molecules and low carbon infrastructure.

What you will be doing
  • Market & strategy support: Lead market assessments across the Netherlands and wider Europe, focused on wholesale power, renewables, storage, or emerging technologies (e.g. PtX/clean molecules) and related business models. Shape strategic recommendations for corporate and investment clients, ensuring analytical robustness and commercial relevance.
  • Transaction support: Support or manage buy‑and sell‑side commercial due diligence processes for renewables, storage, and early‑stage low‑carbon assets. Drive the identification of value drivers, risks, commercial structures and route‑to‑market considerations, while steering stakeholder alignment and delivering clear investment‑grade insights.
  • Quantitative analysis & modelling: Oversee the development and enhancement of complex datasets, models, and analytical frameworks to evaluate market fundamentals, asset revenues and commercial performance for renewables and flexible resources (e.g., batteries, pumped storage, demand response). Provide quality assurance and guide junior team members in best‑practice modelling approaches.
  • Portfolio & asset insights: Steer analytical work on asset dispatch, hedging concepts, and portfolio optimisation strategies, partnering directly with developers, IPPs and investors. Translate market and asset insights into actionable portfolio and trading strategies.
  • Client delivery: develop compelling client deliverables, including executive‑level presentations, memos and dashboards. Translate complex analysis into clear, strategic recommendations. Lead or manage project workstreams and maintain strong client relationships throughout delivery.

We primarily look for:

  • Expertise: Deep understanding of the Dutch and wider European power market including market fundamentals, market design, policy and regulation, and commercial structures. Willingness to work occasionally in different market contexts and themes, or support model development.
  • Experience: 4-8 years of experience in power markets with a research or advisory focus, e.g. in specialist consulting, management consulting or an industry role
  • Ways of working: Youtake ownership of workstreams, communicate effectively with team members across Europe, and deliver and present results in client‑facing environments.
  • Languages: Advanced (C2) Dutch and English required;

Ideally, you also bring one or more of the following:

  • Analytical skills: Analytical skills applied to energy market fundamentals, e.g. quantitative energy market and asset modelling, or programming experience
  • Commercialisation experience: Experience in commercial structures, assessing routes to market for power generation assets and designing business models in energy markets.
  • Project management: The ability to manage projects day‑to‑day and oversee inputs/outputs from the modelling team.
  • Commercial acumen: Experience supporting business development activities
