Job description

High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands

eyeo is an innovative, fast-growing start-up that brings groundbreaking technology in the image sensor space. Our advanced color splitter technology has the potential to disrupt a $25 billion market in the coming years, enabling transformative advancements across industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, medical imaging, and surveillance. You will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of our product offerings and contribute directly to our mission of revolutionizing the imaging technology sector. If you’re passionate about driving innovation and want to build the future of imaging, we want you on our team!

As Senior Application Engineer at eyeo, you will play a key role in bringing eyeo’s breakthrough image sensor technology into real-world customer products and target-market applications. Your main purpose will be to help high-profile customer accounts successfully integrate, evaluate, tune, and industrialize camera systems based on eyeo’s NCOS® color splitter technology. Acting as a technical bridge between customers, product management, sensor development, ISP experts, and system engineering, you will translate customer requirements into practical integration paths and help demonstrate the value of eyeo technology in demanding camera applications.

You will work hands‑on with customer engineering teams to support proof‑of‑concepts, reference designs, image quality optimization, benchmarking, troubleshooting, and ISP tuning. Internally, you will help feed market and customer learnings back into eyeo’s product roadmap, application collateral, evaluation platforms, and next‑generation sensor requirements. This is a senior, customer‑facing technical role for someone who combines deep imaging expertise with the ability to build trust with demanding customers and drive integration projects forward in a fast‑moving start‑up environment.

Master’s degree in engineering, computer vision, imaging science, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical field.

  • Lead technical application support for strategic customer accounts in eyeo’s target markets, helping customers integrate eyeo image sensor technology into camera modules, platforms, and end products.
  • Translate customer use cases, system constraints, and image quality requirements into practical sensor, ISP, and camera integration recommendations.
  • Support customer evaluations, proof‑of‑concepts, demos, reference designs, and design‑in activities, from initial technical discussions through successful implementation.
  • Perform camera bring‑up, image quality tuning, color characterization, ISP parameter optimization, and benchmarking against customer and market expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across product management, photonics design, sensor engineering, algorithm development, hardware, software, and industrialization to resolve integration challenges.
  • Capture customer feedback, technical gaps, and competitive insights, and translate them into product requirements, roadmap input, application notes, tools, and best‑practice documentation.
  • Represent eyeo as a credible senior technical counterpart in discussions with high‑profile customers, ecosystem partners, module makers, ISP vendors, and camera system integrators.
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience in camera systems, image sensors, ISP pipelines, imaging applications, or customer‑facing technical roles.
  • Proven experience supporting customer integration, design‑in, product evaluation, or application engineering for imaging, semiconductor, sensor, camera, or embedded vision products.
  • Strong understanding of camera architectures, image sensor behavior, color processing, ISP pipeline architectures, RGB and YUV color spaces, image quality metrics, and camera tuning workflows.
  • Experience with commercial ISP platforms such as Ambarella, Qualcomm, or similar camera processing ecosystems is a significant plus.
  • Experience with image sensor characterization, camera module evaluation, lab measurements, and translating measurement results into customer‑facing recommendations.
  • Skills:
  • Deep practical experience in camera sensor color characterization and color image processing pipelines, including auto white balance, color correction, color conversion, color management, and image quality optimization.
  • Ability to diagnose complex customer integration issues, structure technical problem‑solving, and drive topics independently from problem definition to implementation and closure.
  • Proficiency in programming and analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar, with the ability to build scripts, analysis flows, and evaluation tools that support customer projects.
  • Customer and Market Orientation:
  • Strong ability to understand target‑market needs and customer system requirements across applications such as consumer electronics, automotive, medical imaging, security, industrial vision, or emerging camera‑enabled products.
  • Credible communication style with the ability to explain complex sensor, optics, ISP, and image quality topics to both expert engineering teams and broader customer stakeholders.
  • Ability to convert customer feedback and field learnings into clear internal recommendations for product improvement, roadmap priorities, and application support material.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites, partners, trade shows, and technical workshops as part of strategic account support.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to take ownership of projects, be resourceful, and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Enthusiasm for building a company from the ground up and playing a hands‑on role in its success.
  • Groundbreaking Technology:Work on transformative technology with the potential to disrupt a $25 billion market and change the future of image sensing.
  • Early Impact:As one of the first employees at eyeo, your contributions will directly shape the company’s success, culture, and product offerings.
  • Innovation:Be part of a start‑up that's pioneering new solutions in the imaging space and working on high‑impact, innovative products.
