Job summary

Bennet & Boss is seeking a Senior Buyer to procure materials, equipment and services for complex oil & gas projects in the Netherlands. You will manage supplier sourcing, evaluation, contract negotiation, POs and delivery to align with budgets and timelines.

You will lead procurement plans, source and evaluate suppliers for critical equipment, and mentor the buying team while ensuring compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.

Job description

As Senior Buyer, you are responsible for procuring materials, equipment and services required for complex oil & gas projects. You will manage procurement from supplier sourcing and evaluation through contract negotiation, purchase orders and delivery, ensuring alignment with project requirements, budgets and timelines. The role covers a range of complex equipment and mechanical packages, including gas compression, power generation, oil processing and water treatment systems. You will work closely with project and category management teams and support and mentor other buyers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead procurement plans for materials, equipment and services in line with project requirements, budgets and schedules.
• Source and evaluate suppliers and negotiate commercial terms for critical equipment and mechanical packages, including compressors, pumps, generators, separators, heat exchangers and process skids.
• Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, contractual requirements and company procedures.
• Monitor procurement progress, costs, supplier performance and potential risks, providing regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
• Support and mentor the buying team while ensuring procurement activities meet quality, safety, regulatory and compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
• 10+ years of procurement experience within the oil & gas industry, preferably involving complex equipment and mechanical packages.
• Strong negotiation, communication, analytical and organisational skills, with experience in contract management and strategic sourcing.
• Proficiency in procurement tools, with a good understanding of industry regulations, purchasing processes and supplier management.
