Job summary

Oliver James is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the migration of legacy single-tenant applications to a scalable multi-tenant, cloud-native backend on Azure. You will own end-to-end delivery, build REST APIs in Python/FastAPI, and drive performance and security considerations.

You'll design PostgreSQL schemas, implement async processing, containerize with Docker, and manage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, ensuring production readiness and high availability for mission-critical

Qualifications

Strong Python development experience.
Deep FastAPI expertise (essential).
Strong object-oriented programming skills and application of SOLID principles.
Async programming experience.
Scripting and automation skills.

Responsibilities

Migrate applications from a single-tenant hub-and-spoke to a multi-tenant cloud-native platform.
Design and build REST APIs and backend functionality using Python and FastAPI.
Develop scripts and automation for data and configuration migration.
Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and data access patterns for efficiency at scale.
Implement async processing and high-throughput API design.
Implement authentication and security (SSO, OAuth, OIDC, PKCE, OBO, API key).
Containerize applications with Docker and deploy on Azure Container Apps.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
Ensure production readiness through automated testing, logging, monitoring, and observability.
