Firsty, an early-stage telco software startup near Amsterdam, seeks a (Senior) Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems. You’ll own projects from design through production and influence architecture alongside the founders and team.

We value pragmatic engineering, strong testing, and maintainable code, with optional weekly remote work. The role emphasizes building production-grade software at scale and collaboration across the engineering org.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of building, shipping, and operating production backend systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience building and operating production software at scale.
• Strong experience with statically typed languages: TypeScript, Go, Rust, Java, or Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with private cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain the backend systems powering the platform.
• Own projects from design through production and influence architecture.
• Collaborate with founders and the engineering team to shape technical direction.
