Job summary

Walker & Dunlop is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to shape the Loan Origination and Servicing platform with scalable backend services. You will design, implement, and maintain high-performance systems, collaborating with Product and business stakeholders to deliver real-time insights and robust workflows.

The role requires experience in Python, FastAPI, Vue.js, and containerized deployments in AWS, with a focus on quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).
• Strong experience building APIs and backend services in Python, including OpenAPI-based contracts.
• Experience deploying containerized apps in AWS with event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable applications across product lines.
• Own features end-to-end from architecture to deployment and iteration.
• Architect and evolve our core stack (Python, FastAPI, Vue.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions with stakeholders.
• Improve performance, reliability, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Mentor engineers and foster engineering excellence and accountability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
