Sytac in the Netherlands is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build high-performing services in Kotlin/Java. You’ll own backend components, write clean production-grade code, and deploy on cloud infrastructure with Azure or GCP, operating in Kubernetes environments.

You’ll value craftsmanship and collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders. The role emphasizes scalable design, choice of SQL/NoSQL databases, and practical AI-assisted development tools.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend engineering experience in fast-moving environments.
• Strong hands-on Kotlin and/or Java (JVM) with Spring Boot.
• Cloud experience on Azure or GCP.
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Production-grade CI/CD and Kubernetes operations.
• Clear communicator with technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build, own, and operate backend services in Kotlin/Java.
• Write clean, well-tested code with good coverage.
• Deploy and run services in production with CI/CD.
• Apply solid design patterns and clean-code principles.
• Collaborate with engineers and business teams.
• Explore AI-assisted development where value is added.
