Job summary

Sytac is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a key client in the Netherlands. You will develop backend services in Kotlin or Java, primarily with Spring Boot, and operate them in cloud and Kubernetes environments.

You’ll ensure clean, production-grade code with strong test coverage, and collaborate with diverse teams to shape scalable backend solutions and AI-assisted development approaches.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend engineering in fast-moving environments.
• Hands-on Kotlin/Java (JVM) with Spring Boot.
• Cloud experience on Azure or GCP, and SQL/NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Build, own and operate backend services in Kotlin/Java.
• Write clean, well-tested production-grade code.
• Run services in production: CI/CD and incident response.
• Apply design patterns and clean code principles at scale.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to shape culture.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools where value is added.
