Job summary

Philips is seeking a Software Engineer – Backend for Azurion Eye to drive secure, scalable backend services in a regulated healthcare setting. You will build RESTful microservices, manage data pipelines in a data lake, and ensure high reliability and observability across platforms.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and delivering compliant data solutions within agile processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of end‑to‑end software development experience including design, development, testing and troubleshooting.
• Strong backend expertise in Golang and REST API design (Swagger/OpenAPI) with emphasis on reliability and observability.
• Experience with event‑driven architectures (NATS/Kafka/RabbitMQ), Linux environments and containerized microservices (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Solid database design and performance tuning skills (PostgreSQL/MS SQL); cloud‑native and DevOps practices.
• Strong collaboration and leadership skills; able to mentor engineers and operate in agile environments (medical/regulated experience is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to engineering best practices; support and mentor junior engineers.
• Design and build secure, compliant backend services and microservices for clinical data platforms and data movement.
• Develop scalable data pipelines and Build/maintain data pipelines within our data lake architecture for performance, governance and reliability.
• Ensure system quality through code reviews, performance optimization, testing automation, CI/CD and observability (monitoring/alerting).
• Maintain operational excellence by resolving production issues (ingestion failures, schema drift, performance bottlenecks).
• Collaborate with product, UX/design, QA, data/AI and engineering teams to define and ship features.
