Job summary

1GLOBAL in Amsterdam seeks a Senior Accountant to own core accounting functions and support our growing global operations. You will handle VAT returns, financial reporting for multiple entities, and month-end close while partnering with the Finance Manager.

This role offers exposure to IFRS 16, automation projects, and opportunities to lead special accounting topics as we scale. A curious, performance-driven professional with Big 4 background and 3–5 years of experience will fit well and thrive

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with Big 4 training and strong reporting skills.
• Three to five years' experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Curious about the "why" behind numbers and eager to take on responsibility.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting software; strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and ensure reporting accuracy.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare financial statements for multiple entities.
• Support wholesale cost calculations during month-end close.
• Assist in worldwide audits with internal teams and external partners.
• Drive finance automation initiatives and process improvements.
• Oversee automated cash reconciliation processes for efficiency.
• Gain exposure to IFRS 16 lease accounting within the close process.
• Identify and implement efficiencies to optimise the finance function.

About the Role

As we embark on a pivotal journey towards becoming a listed entity within the next three years, we are building a strong Finance team to help steer the company through this transformative era. The Senior Accountant at 1GLOBAL will own core accounting functions while getting genuine exposure to the technical and cross-functional work that shapes a growing global business, with real scope to take on special projects and technical accounting topics as they prove themselves.

This role will be located in Amsterdam, our company headquarters, and will report into the Finance Manager. Amsterdam sits at the centre of our global finance function, and this role offers close proximity to senior finance leadership and the wider group team.

About the Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy in reporting
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulations
• Prepare financial statements for a number of entities
• Support wholesale cost calculations as part of month-end close
• Provide support in worldwide audits, collaborating with various teams and external partners
• Assist in finance automation projects, identifying opportunities for process improvement
• Oversee the automated cash reconciliation process, ensuring its efficiency and reliability
• Gain exposure to IFRS 16 lease accounting as part of the close process
• Improve processes for the finance team to optimise efficiency and effectiveness

About You

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)
• 3-5 years' experience in an accounting or finance role, with Big 4 training
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Naturally curious, with a genuine interest in understanding the \"why\" behind the numbers, not just the \"how\"
• Comfortable asking questions and being challenged, with an appetite for increasing responsibility as you prove yourself
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
