Job summary

HEMA is seeking a Security Engineer to strengthen our defenses across cloud and infrastructure. You’ll lead security assessments, design automated controls, and serve as the escalation point for critical alerts, driving fixes with stakeholders.

You’ll coach colleagues and push for smarter, scalable security practices across the organization. You bring a completed IT/cybersecurity degree and hands-on cloud experience (AWS or Azure), strong scripting skills (Python/Go), and a solid grasp of

Qualifications

• A completed degree in IT, cybersecurity, or a related field, backed by several years of hands-on experience as a security engineer.
• Strong analytical skills and a structured, process-driven way of working.
• Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform, such as AWS or Azure.
• A solid grasp of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routing protocols, VLANs, and networking services (SFTP, SMTP).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Go.
• Knowledge of common web application vulnerabilities like the OWASP Top 10.
• Experience with a SIEM platform like Microsoft Sentinel.
• Proficiency in Dutch and English.
• Nice to have: experience with no-code automation platforms such as Tines and n8n.

Responsibilities

• Lead security assessments, investigations, and penetration tests, translating findings into clear, actionable improvements.
• Design, automate, and maintain security processes and documentation for cloud and infrastructure environments (ISMS).
• Act as the escalation point for critical security alerts, driving them to resolution with the relevant stakeholders.
• Strengthen our security posture by identifying risks and implementing structural, scalable solutions.
• Coach and support less experienced colleagues.
• Bring ideas to the table that make our security processes smarter, leaner, and more automated.
