Job summary

Telespazio Belgium is seeking a Satellite Telecommunication System Engineer to work at ESTEC in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. The role requires eligibility for EU security clearance and relocation to the Netherlands; on-site presence is not full-time, with a hybrid arrangement.

You will support ESA activities in satellite telecom system analysis and simulations, assist with R&D tenders, and help advance technology roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Telecommunication or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong background in satellite communications, maritime and aeronautical services.
• Experience in satellite system and network simulations.
• Knowledge of the 3GPP 5G protocol.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in telecommunications including system-level analysis, end-to-end Physical/MAC layer analysis and simulations, SATCOM standards.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and programming languages such as Julia, Python, C++.

Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration

What is expected from you:

Support ESA in the activities of satellite telecommunication system analysis and simulation

The activities include:

• Assistance in preparation of invitation to tenders related to ESA R&D.
• Support the management of industrial R&D activities in the areas of system design, analysis and simulations
• Support internal hands-on technical analysis on subjects related to future SATCOM systems
• Support the preparation of the section R&D technology roadmaps in the area of satellite telecom network protocols, architectures and systems
• Support ESA-wide projects in the area of telecommunication systems and technologies

What you offer :

• Master's degree / PhD (preferable) in Telecommunication or Electrical engineering
• Good background on satellite communication system and technologies, particularly in the areas of maritime and aeronautical services
• Experience in satellite system and network simulations
• Good knowledge of the 3GPP 5G protocol
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of telecommunications covering the following:
  • System level analysis of satellite telecommunication networks
  • End-to-end Physical/MAC layer analysis and simulations
  • Good knowledge of SATCOM related standards
• Knowledge of MATLAB and other programming languages such as Julia, Python, C++.
