Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a SatCom AI Technology Lead to advance AI-enabled opportunities for commercial satellite communications. The role focuses on translating market needs into development programmes, coordinating multidisciplinary teams across ESA, industry and academia, and delivering AI-enabled SatCom products through ECSAT AI Hub and partner programmes.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline and four years of professional experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus four additional years of experience.

Responsibilities

Contribute to AI-enabled SatCom technology roadmaps by assessing emerging technologies and market developments.
Translate opportunities into development activities, demonstrators, pilots or proofs-of-concept with clear objectives and requirements.
Advance AI-enabled SatCom solutions through development and validation, addressing data, computing, validation and operational constraints.
Coordinate multidisciplinary contributions from ESA, industry, operators, AI companies, universities and research institutions to progress SatCom AI activities.
Identify opportunities to connect SatCom AI activities with ESA programmes, ECSAT AI Hub and external initiatives for collaboration and exploitation.
Provide technical guidance on SatCom AI opportunities within the Directorate and participate in coordination forums.
