Confidential is seeking a Safety Manager to lead the site's health and safety agenda, drive continuous improvement, and foster a proactive safety culture on a large, 24/7 industrial site in the Netherlands.

The role requires 5+ years of H&S leadership in industrial settings, strong knowledge of Dutch/European safety legislation, and hands-on leadership on the plant floor. HVK/MVK qualifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • HVK qualification strongly preferred; MVK with significant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of Health & Safety leadership experience in industrial, manufacturing, or process environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch and European health & safety legislation, risk management, and incident investigation methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the site's health and safety strategy, standards, and performance.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and a visible presence on the plant floor.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and contractors to identify risks and implement controls.
  • Lead risk assessments, safety inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch and European safety regulations (ATEX, machine safety, LOTO, fire protection, emergency response).
  • Coordinate safety training programs, onboarding initiatives, and competency development.
  • Monitor and report safety KPIs while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in safety committees and leadership forums to influence decisions.

Are you a passionate safety leader with experience in industrial or manufacturing environments? Our client, a leading international production organization, is looking for a Safety Manager to lead the site's health and safety agenda, drive continuous improvement, and strengthen a proactive safety culture.

In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and supporting operational excellence through strong field engagement and visible leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and drive the site's health and safety strategy, standards, and performance.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and strong presence on the plant floor.
  • Partner closely with operations, maintenance, and contractors to identify risks and implement effective controls.
  • Lead risk assessments, safety inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch and European safety regulations, including areas such as ATEX, machine safety, LOTO, fire protection, and emergency response.
  • Coordinate safety training programs, onboarding initiatives, and competency development.
  • Monitor and report safety KPIs while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Play an active role in safety committees and leadership forums, influencing decision-making and operational execution.
What We're Looking For
  • HVK qualification strongly preferred; MVK combined with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of Health & Safety leadership experience within an industrial, manufacturing, or process environment.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, risk management, and incident investigation methodologies.
  • Experience working in complex industrial operations, preferably within a 24/7 production environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and coaching skills.
  • Hands-on, visible leader with a passion for developing people and improving safety performance.
