Job summary

NL Health Services – Eastern Rural Zone invites applications for two permanent full-time Fee-For-Service Emergency Physicians at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin, NL. These positions start immediately and offer a predictable 12-hour shift schedule with day and night coverage.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution.
• Emergency room experience considered an asset.
• CCFP or CCFP-EM certification considered an asset but not required.
• Current ACLS and BLS certification required.
• Current PALS and ATLS certification considered an asset but not required.
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca).
• Must satisfy credentialing and privileging requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency medicine care across 12-hour day and night shifts.
• Day shift: 8:00am-8:00pm | Night shift: 8:00pm-8:00am
• Work solo Emergency physician coverage with Nurse Practitioner support during weekday daytime hours
• Utilize point-of-care ultrasound and 24-hour CT scanning resources as required
• Liaise with specialist services including General Surgery, Anesthesia, OBS/GYN, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and Internal Medicine
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Emergency Department team
• Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
