Job summary

Snap is seeking a RTL Design Engineer for its hardware IP design team. You will design and implement state-of-the-art RTL IPs for wearable devices, contributing to hardware launches at Snap and Specs Inc.

The role involves architecture definition, RTL design, synthesis, and power optimization, with close collaboration with verification and R&D teams. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in RTL design/verification, strong Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL skills, and experience with Python/C++.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of RTL hardware design and/or verification.
• Experience with AI/ML hardware is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement RTL IPs for wearable devices used in hardware launches.
• Define micro-architecture, RTL design, gate-level synthesis, and PPA optimization.
• Debug designs in collaboration with the verification team.
• Develop and maintain flows for regression tests, synthesis, linting, and power analysis.
• Collaborate with NN/AI teams and other R&D groups.

We’re looking for a RTL Design Engineer to join our Hardware IP design team at Snap Inc!

What you’ll do:

• Design and implement our state-of-the-art artificial intelligence IPs for wearable devices that lead to exciting launches of hardware at Snap.
• Implement the steps in the development cycle of our IPs (micro architecture definition, RTL design, gate-level synthesis, PPA optimisation).
• Debugging the design, in close collaboration with the verification team.
• Develop and maintain flows for regression tests, synthesis, linting, power analysis etc.
• Analyse code coverage and provide feedback to the verification team to achieve coverage closure.
• Work in close collaboration with our other R&D departments who work on neural network design and optimisation, AI compilers, and operating systems.
• Be an integral part of a highly diverse international team of skilled engineers and scientists, and a key driver of the team’s further growth.
• Author clear and comprehensive documentation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ample hands-on experience with state-of-the-art RTL design methodologies and languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL)
• Experience with all aspects of DfX, such as testability, MBIST+Repair, yield enhancement, test patterns, memory ECC, and debug infrastructure
• Solid programming and scripting skills (2+ years of e.g. C, C++, Python)
• Proactive, flexible, team player with can-do attitude and excellent problem analysis skills
• Proven experience in process development and documentation
• Excellent written and verbal English communication

Minimum Qualifications:

• MSc degree in related field such as electrical engineering or equivalent years of experience
• 5+ years of experience in RTL hardware design and/or verification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Analyzing coverage results
• Experience in designing CPUs, GPUs, or NPUs
• Experience in designing components of image signal processing or computer vision solutions
• Understanding of physical aspects of silicon design, i.e. impact of design choices on timing, area, and power consumption
• Working knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence, neuromorphic compute
• Experience with common requirement management practices, software engineering tools such as Git, etc.
