Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Solicitor (Planning, Highways, Property, Commercial, or Litigation) to join a Local Authority Legal Services team on an interim, fully remote basis. You will deliver expert legal guidance across planning, highways, property, contracts and procurement, and litigation matters.

The role requires PQE of at least 2 years, strong drafting and research skills, and the ability to manage a busy caseload while advising senior officers and elected members.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor, barrister or CILEX fellow with valid practising certificate.
• 2+ years PQE in relevant legal fields.
• Experience in planning, highways, property, contracts and procurement.
• Proven drafting and legal research skills.
• Ability to advise senior officers and elected members.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality legal advice across planning, highways, property, contracts and procurement.
• Independently manage a diverse caseload with deadlines.
• Draft legal documents, notices, and correspondence.
• Advise Members, senior managers and officers on complex matters.
• Represent the Local Authority in meetings and committees.
• Assist with litigation, judicial review and regulatory matters.
• Oversee external counsel when needed and log time accurately.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and ensure quality standards.
