Job summary

John Sisk & Son Ltd is seeking a Regional Engineer to support data center projects from tender to live construction. You will oversee engineering governance, supervise TWCs, and drive best practice across a regional portfolio while collaborating with project teams and stakeholders.

Overview

We have an opportunity for a Regional Engineer to join our Data Center team. The Regional Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support, governance and technical oversight across projects within their Business Unit/Region. Working from tender stage through to live construction, the Regional Engineer ensures engineering best practice, compliance and consistency across all projects while supporting project teams in the safe and effective delivery of works. A key responsibility is the assessment and appointment of Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs). The Technical Director delegates responsibility for assessing and appointing competent TWCs within the region to the Regional Engineer. The Regional Engineer supports the Project Lead in the nomination of TWCs, carries out competency assessments and ensures digital appointments are completed on i‑Site.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support to projects during both the tender and construction stage.
  • Attend settlement meetings, when requested, to confirm the engineering strategy for projects.
  • Undertake construction reviews, including tender stage reviews.
  • Carry out supply chain construction reviews and temporary works vetting.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure engineering compliance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Carry out regular site visits to provide technical support and engineering oversight.
  • Undertake formal engineering audits and collect monthly Temporary Works Checklist forms from project Temporary Works Coordinators, incorporating findings into the monthly report.
  • Attend site to undertake high‑risk reviews in advance of high‑risk activities to support site engineering teams.
  • Assess and appoint Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs) within the Business Unit/Region.
  • Support, coach and mentor Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs) and Temporary Works Supervisors (TWSs).
  • Ensure a consistent level of competence and compliance with temporary works procedures and documentation across all projects within the region.
  • Produce standardised monthly reporting for the Business Unit and contribute to Business Unit management meetings.
  • Promote the Engineering Quality Guidance and engineering best practice across projects.
  • Communicate engineering good practice, alerts and lessons learned across the Business Unit/Region; attend and contribute to the monthly Regional Engineering Forum.
  • Promote collaboration and strengthen the engineering community across the Business Unit/Region.
  • Develop and support engineering training plans for the Business Unit/Region.
Experience
  • Proven engineering experience supporting construction projects from tender through to project delivery.
  • Experience providing technical support and engineering governance across multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of temporary works management and Temporary Works procedures.
  • Experience undertaking engineering reviews, inspections and audits.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering standards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineering personnel.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of temporary works procedures and engineering governance.
  • Competence in assessing and appointing Temporary Works Coordinators.
  • Experience undertaking engineering audits and compliance reviews.
  • Full understanding of engineering quality, safety and construction best practice.
Desirable
  • Experience working across multiple projects or regions.
  • Knowledge of BIM strategy and emerging construction technologies.
