Job summary

JDE Peet’s in Utrecht invites you to join as an R&D Quality intern starting March 2026. You will conduct research and evaluate risks in coffee processing facilities across our industrial operations, collaborating with quality colleagues to support standardization across the facility network.

You gain hands-on experience in quality and food safety assessment, risk analysis, and developing protocols, with reports and data visualizations to drive improvements.

Qualifications

  • Academic program: enrolled in a BSc or MSc for the whole internship.
  • Strong MS Office skills and fluent English (spoken/written).
  • Commitment: at least 5 months (Mar 2026–Aug 2026).
  • Availability: 5 days per week, 4 days in-office and 1 day remote.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews on quality risks in processing environments.
  • Map quality risks across JDE factories and review quality technologies.
  • Analyze past recalls and contamination incidents; support SOP updates.
  • Prepare reports and visual summaries of data and insights.
  • Collaborate with QA and R&D to implement improvements and standardization.

Job description

Join us as R&D Quality intern at our international headquarters in Utrecht starting in March 2026.In this internship, youwill be responsible for conducting research and evaluating risks in coffee processing facilities across our industrial operations. You’ll collaborate closely with quality colleagues in both central and factory functions to support standardization efforts within the JDE facility network. This role provides hands‑on experience in quality and food safety assessment, risk analysis, and the development of protocols and best practices driven by science base approach.

Your key activities will be:

  • Conduct a literature review on quality‑related risks in processing environments.
  • Map current quality risks across JDE factories and review available technologies that support quality improvement in processing.
  • Understanding compliance with local, national, and international food safety and quality regulations and certification bodies when available.
  • Analyse past quality recalls and contamination‑related incidents.
  • Support updates to Standard Operating Procedures and training materials.
  • Assist in developing criteria for quality classification and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with quality and R&D teams to interpret findings and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to standardization efforts across facilities.
  • Prepare reports and visual summaries of data and insights.

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Academic Program: You are enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship, preferably in Food Technology/Science/Quality/Food Safety/Chemical Engineering or related subjects.
  • Skillset: You possess strong MS Office skills and fluent proficiency in speaking and written English – Having some similar hands‑on experience with food research activities is always a benefit.
  • Personal traits: You have a structured approach, a driven and energetic personality, excellent communication and people skills, and the ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Commitment: You are ready to dedicate at least 5 months to this internship, preferably from March 2026 to August2026
  • Availability: You can join the internship for 5 days per week, including four days in-office and one day remotely, ensuring an ideal balance between collaboration and independence.

  • You are either an EU(EEA) student residing in the Netherlands during the internship or a Non‑EU(EEA) student enrolled and living in the Netherlands during the internship.
