Job summary

JDE Peet's is offering an R&D Food Safety Intern position at our Utrecht headquarters, beginning March 2026. You will support standardization and digitalization of the HACCP program across the facility network, aligning practices with certification standards and company requirements.

You will work with central and factory quality teams to assess practices, develop templates, and contribute to training materials for global rollout, gaining hands-on experience in food safety and quality systems

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship.
  • Strong MS Office skills and fluent English.
  • Commitment of at least 5 months (Mar–Aug 2026).
  • Availability: 5 days/week, 3 in-office, 1–2 remote.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature review on HACCP best practices, with focus on hazard controls.
  • Develop standardized HACCP templates, decision trees, and risk assessment tools.
  • Contribute to the digitalization strategy by evaluating platforms for HACCP docs, monitoring and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with company requirements and certification standards.
  • Create training materials and SOPs to facilitate global rollout of the digital HACCP program.

Job description

Join us as an R&D Food Safety Intern at our international headquarters in Utrecht starting in March 2026. In this internship, you will support the global standardization and digitalization of our HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) program across the JDE facility network. This project aims to harmonize HACCP process and leverage digital tools to enhance compliance and efficiency. You will work closely with central and factory quality teams to assess current HACCP practices, identify gaps, and contribute to the development of a globally aligned and digitally enabled HACCP framework.

Your key activities will be:

  • Conduct a literature review on HACCP best practices, with a focus on biological, physical, and chemical hazard controls.
  • Support the development of standardized HACCP templates, decision trees, and risk assessment tools.
  • Contribute to the digitalization strategy by evaluating digital platforms and tools for HACCP documentation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with company requirements and certification standards.
  • Support the creation of training materials and SOPs to facilitate global rollout and adoption of the standardized digital HACCP program.

Qualifications

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Academic Program: You are enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship, preferably in Food Technology/Science/Quality/Food Safety/Toxicology or related subjects.
  • Skillset: You possess strong MS Office skills and fluent proficiency in speaking and written English – Having some similar hands-on experience with food research activities is always a benefit.
  • Personal traits: You have a structured approach, a driven and energetic personality, excellent communication and people skills, and the ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Commitment: You are ready to dedicate at least 5 months to this internship, preferably from March 1st until the end of August 2026.
  • Availability: You can join the internship for 5 days per week, including three days in-office and one or two days remotely, ensuring an ideal balance between collaboration and independence

  • enrolled and living in the Netherlands during the internship.
