Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to lead technology-driven R&D projects in the Netherlands. The role involves coordinating engineering, finance, legal, and communications teams, managing budgets and contracts, and ensuring governance and reporting requirements are met.

You will translate complex technical work into actionable plans, mentor project teams, and drive proposals for national and European-funded research initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of relevant Project Management experience.
• Proven experience managing project budgets and contracts.
• Strong stakeholder management experience in a complex environment.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and reporting skills.
• Experience applying PMP, IPMA, Scrum, Agile, or similar methodologies.
• Must be based in the Netherlands or able to travel regularly to Leiden.
• Must be eligible to work in the Netherlands without visa sponsorship.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Monitor project schedules, milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
• Support Project Leaders in the structured execution of technical R&T projects.
• Translate technical developments into clear actions, reports, and stakeholder updates.
• Manage project budgets, contracts, risks, and financial reporting activities.
• Ensure contractual obligations and reporting requirements are fulfilled.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders including Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Communications.
• Manage relationships with external partners, research institutes, universities, and government organizations.
• Maintain project documentation, risk registers, KPIs, and progress reports.
• Facilitate project meetings and workshops using PMP, IPMA, Scrum, Agile, Lean, or similar methodologies.
• Support the preparation of proposals for national and European-funded research projects.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and governance.
