Job summary

Sitka Inc. in Heerlen (NL) seeks an experienced R&D Engineer to design and drive a membrane facility, with hands-on initiative and practical, innovative solutions.

You will build a deep understanding of the overall process to develop new products and ensure high quality manufacturing processes. You will lead development of new products, optimize production equipment, and collaborate with global teams to transfer R&D processes to production, shaping the facility and contributing to HAZOP/MOC

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
• Strong affinity for process technology and innovation.
• Experience with polymer or film technology.
• Experience with project management and Lean Six Sigma.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.

About the Role

For the site in Heerlen (NL), where expanded polyethylene (ePE) membranes are developed and manufactured, we are looking for an experienced R&D Engineer to design and drive an R&D membrane facility, willing to take initiative and with a sense of practical, innovative solutions. In this role you will establish a deep understanding of the overall process to develop new products and ensure high quality manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Driving the continuous development of new products or technologies linked to gel technology
• Developing a deep understanding of the process impact on the product and optimizing the production equipment to create new or better functionality
• Contribution to the development and commercialization of new products, including transferring R&D processes to production
• Partnering with cross-functional and global teams, both as a team member and a project champion
• Contributing to the further development of the R&D facility and shaping your work environment
• Contributing to the local MOC & HAZOP

Required Qualifications

• Batchelor’s or master’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering with strong affinity for process technology and innovation
• Knowledge of polymer and/or film technology
• Experience with project management and lean six sigma
• Team player, showing strong dedication to achieve results by using a pragmatic approach
• Willing to take initiative and able to flourish in a quickly changing environment
• Proactive, hands‑on approach with the ability to drive and influence
• Very good communication and organizational skills with strong team‑player qualities
• Fluent communication in Dutch and English

Desired Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in a comparable, particularly within extrusion or polymer processing environments.
