Job summary

Qabird seeks a System Engineer to join the ESA EuroQCI program at ESTEC premises in Noordwijk, Netherlands. The role covers system engineering support across Space, Ground, and User Segments with emphasis on QKD technologies and architecture definition.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in space systems, MBSE familiarity, and strong English communication. Occasional travel may be required, and the position adheres to a multicultural international environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Similar technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience in Space Ground/Segment system engineering activities.
• Understanding of Space/Ground segment architecture & Interface Management.
• Knowledge of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) principles and Optical Communications.
• Experience in System Architecture definition and Trade-off Analysis.
• Desire to work autonomously and in an international multicultural environment.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Supporting system engineering activities for EuroQCI, including requirements definition and system architecture.
• Contributing to the design of quantum communication systems and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technologies across Space, Ground, and User Segments.
• Supporting system integration activities and interface management.
• Participating in technical trade-offs and performance assessments.
