Job summary

Falqon Systems in Delft seeks a Quantum Optics Engineer to join our customer fulfillment team, producing quantum devices and supporting research and development for an international customer base.

You will work with hardware and software engineers, travel for installations, characterize optical components, and help extend tooling and processes while communicating clearly with customers.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and optical systems.
• Experience calibrating optical setups and components.
• Familiarity with basic Test & Measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, meters).
• Experience with Python and software engineering practices (Git, documentation).
• Experience with customer-facing activities and field service is valued.

Responsibilities

• Produce quantum devices and bring them to a functional state ready for shipping.
• Characterize optical components and integrate them into complex setups with full system characterization.
• Develop scripts for long-term measurement setups to run automatically.
• Learn assembly, characterization steps, and configuration possibilities; own process improvements.
• Travel for on-site installations, deployments, and training at customer sites including data centers and telecom facilities.
• Assist with diagnosing field issues and potentially service equipment for customers.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to support customer use cases and communication.
