The Application Scientist role at Qblox is critical for bridging the gap between our innovative quantum technology and successful sales outcomes. This position demands a highly motivated individual with a strong technical background in quantum computing and a passion for engaging with customers. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to showcase Qblox’s hardware and software solutions, develop compelling value propositions, and provide expert technical support. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the quantum computing revolution, working with cutting‑edge technology and driving commercial success.

Key Responsibilities:
Quantum computing expertise:
  • Serve as the go‑to expert on fundamental and advanced topics in semiconductor spin‑based quantum computing, quantum control, and related applications.
  • Stay current with the latest scientific literature and advancements in the field.
  • Conduct spin‑qubit experiments at Qblox's field lab to test hardware and software functions on cold QPUs.
Business development and customer engagement:
  • Lead deep‑drive technical discovery sessions with customers to uncover their needs—moving beyond specifications to understand their specific research bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical expertise, develop system‑level proposals, and demonstrate product capabilities.
  • Strategize with the deal team to address unique customer challenges.
Value proposition development and product demonstration:
  • Tailor value propositions to specific customer requirements and the competitive landscape; articulate how Qblox’s solutions address customer challenges and deliver tangible benefits.
  • Lead the creation and execution of live, on‑site demonstrations in academic and industrial labs, customized to address specific customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate real‑time qubit control, readout protocols, and data analysis.
Technical market analysis:
  • Analyze deals to understand customer requirements and competitive positioning to identify missing specifications, and assess the technical factors impacting deal outcomes.
  • Document customer needs to inform product development and provide feedback to the product team to guide future hardware and software solutions.
Global outreach and travel:
  • Represent Qblox at conferences, customer sites, and industry events worldwide.
  • Conduct product demonstrations at events and participate in roadshows.
  • Build relationships with key customers and the global quantum computing community.
Advanced Technical Expertise:

A PhD in physics with significant hands‑on experience in experimental quantum computing, specifically qubit control and readout, or equivalent research experience. This includes a deep understanding of relevant scientific literature and the ability to stay current with advancements in the field.

Experimental Proficiency:

Proven experience in building, debugging, and operating complex experimental setups involving RF signals, microwaves, DC equipment, cryostats, QPUs (Quantum Processing Units), and other general lab equipment. A strong hands‑on mentality is crucial for ensuring experimental setups function correctly and efficiently.

Programming Skills:

Proficiency in Python for data analysis, experiment automation, and developing control sequences.

Communication and Presentation Skills:

Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively engage with customers, explain complex technical concepts, and deliver compelling product demonstrations. Fluency in Professional English is essential.

Customer Engagement and Sales Affinity:

A charismatic, enthusiastic, and outgoing personality with a strong affinity for sales and marketing. Experience in sales or marketing is a plus.

Scientific Curiosity and Drive:

A strong drive to stay updated with scientific literature and advancements in quantum technology, particularly in spin circuits and related areas.

Problem‑Solving Abilities:

Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify and address technical challenges in customer setups and provide effective solutions using Qblox products.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

Ability to collaborate effectively with Sales Engineers, Marketing, Product teams, and other stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
