Job summary

Qblox is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical development for advanced quantum hardware. You will design complex assemblies, heatsinks, and RF shields, performing thermal/structural analyses and EMI shielding strategies to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development with complex electronic products and PCB assemblies.
• Experience in system-level design and detailed mechanical engineering for enclosures, heatsinks, RF shields.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical development and optimize mechanical solutions for electronic products and PCB assemblies.
• Design mechanical components, assemblies, enclosures, heatsinks, and RF shields with manufacturability and cost in mind.
• Perform mechanical, thermal, and structural analyses including FEA/CFD and EMI shielding considerations.
• Verify, prototype, test, and validate mechanical designs throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration with electronic systems.
• Generate and maintain technical documentation: specs, 2D/3D drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and environmental requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote DFM and DFA practices.

As our Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will tackle complex mechanical challenges from root-cause identification to the conceptualization and implementation of innovative solutions. You will ensure that mechanical designs seamlessly integrate into our advanced systems, delivering products that meet exacting performance, thermal, and electromagnetic shielding standards. Your expertise in CAD design, mechanical analysis, and engineering principles will be instrumental in bringing our cutting‑edge products to life.

• Lead Mechanical Development: Lead the development, optimization, and implementation of mechanical solutions for electronic products and PCB assemblies.

• Design Complex Assemblies: Design mechanical components, assemblies, enclosures, heatsinks, and RF shields with a strict focus on manufacturability, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness.

• Perform Advanced Simulations: Perform mechanical, thermal, and structural analysis and simulations (FEA, CFD, thermal management, and EMI/RF shielding considerations).

• Verify & Validate: Execute design verification, prototyping, hands‑on testing, and validation of mechanical designs throughout the product development lifecycle.

• Bridge Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate closely with cross‑functional electronic, RF, and system‑level teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electronic systems.

• Manage Technical Documentation: Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, 2D/3D CAD drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.

• Maintain Compliance & Standards: Ensure all mechanical designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.

• Guide & Drive Excellence: Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical expertise while supporting Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives to optimize production.

The Non‑Negotiables:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

• Proven Track Record: Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, preferably with complex electronic products and PCB assemblies.

• System & Component Expertise: Proven experience in both system‑level design and detailed engineering of mechanical components, including custom heatsinks and RF shields.

• Prototyping & Validation: Hands‑on experience with physical prototyping, laboratory testing, and experimental validation of mechanical and thermal designs.

• CAD & Drafting Mastery: Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar) and highly skilled in creating technical 2D drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation.

• Materials & Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, and surface treatments relevant to electronics, enclosures, and PCB housing.

• Simulation Expertise: Hands‑on experience with mechanical, thermal, and electrical simulations (FEA, CFD, thermal analysis), including heat dissipation and EMI shielding strategies.

• Cross‑Functional Communication: Excellent English communication skills (full professional proficiency, written and spoken) with a collaborative, proactive, and creative “can‑do” mentality.

• Experience with quantum control/readout hardware, high‑frequency RF/analog signal chains, or high‑end instrumentation.

• Experience with automated manufacturing processes, precision machining, and specialized enclosure thermal management.
