PSM (Process Safety Management) / EHS Manager position-based in the EMENA region with responsibilities across multiple sites, including Solvent Plants in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Israel, and the UK, and EHS management at Leiden Pilot Plant and the European HQ in Oegstgeest. You will report to the EHS Director EMENA and drive PSM development, EHS programs, regulatory compliance, and green chemistry practices.
Provide Divisional PSM Support and Development (60%): technical PSM advice, conduct site audits and mentoring, liaise with global/EMENA PSM teams, collaborate with Engineering in early project phases, deliver PSM training to local management and team leaders, develop site-specific PSM training programs, support PSM roadmaps and OGSM implementation, monitor and facilitate closure of audit action plans, lead PSM Council meetings, manage PSM Golden Actions, mentor new PSM engineers, and advise sites on environmental legislation and green chemistry practices.
Provide EHS/PSM support to Oegstgeest and Leiden (40%): implement global corporate EHS/PSM programs and sustainability goals, conduct risk assessments (including CMR substances), offer guidance on environmental legislation and green chemistry practices, manage Hazardous Materials handling, storage and disposal with SDS and labeling expertise, ensure regulatory compliance with environmental (EPA) and safety (OSHA) / REACH regulations related to chemical use and waste, conduct Chemical Safety & Risk Assessments including flammable liquids and process safety management, and apply relevant EHS and PSM standards.
Technical or university degree in Environment, Health and Safety or Chemical/Process Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience; strong occupational and process safety expertise (HAZOP, PHA, PSM).
Strong leadership, managerial, training, and mentoring skills.
Industrial safety and occupational EHS experience within a manufacturing environment; environmental leadership preferred.
Extensive knowledge of Dutch and EU regulatory requirements and EHS policies, procedures and programs.
Experience with life safety codes, EHS rules, HAZOP, training, occupational safety/health principles, and industrial hygiene.
Strong project/problem resolution skills.
Proficiency with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes) and function-specific software.
Good verbal, written and presentation skills in Dutch and English.
Strong coaching, facilitating and training abilities.
Ability to interpret and modify organizational policies; strategic thinker with a process-oriented mindset.
