Job summary

Forexx Group's client, a leading shipyard in the Amsterdam region, seeks a Project Manager to oversee repair and conversion projects for vessels up to 250 meters. You will coordinate with clients and subcontractors, develop detailed planning, and drive commercial and financial results.

The ideal candidate holds a technical degree (MBO/HBO or MAROF), has 4+ years in maritime project management, and excels in decision-making, planning, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• A completed technical degree (MBO or HBO) in Shipbuilding, Maritime Officer (MAROF), or related field.
• At least 4 years of project management experience within the maritime industry.
• Willingness to take the next career step (second or third role).
• Strong decision-making, planning and collaboration skills.
• Customer-focused mindset with commercial awareness.
• Fluent in English and Dutch.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, execute, and finalize assigned ship repair and conversion projects.
• Monitor progress and respond effectively to changing circumstances.
• Develop project and detailed planning with internal/external stakeholders.
• Supervise timelines and budgets with accurate financial follow-up.
• Report on project progress to Senior PM/Head of Projects and maintain client contact.

Our client is a leading shipyard located in the Amsterdam region, specialized in the maintenance, repair, and conversion of various types of vessels up to 250 meters in length. What you’ll be doing

• Prepare, execute, and finalize assigned ship repair and conversion projects;
• Achieve optimal commercial and financial results within the agreed parameters;
• Develop project and detailed planning in coordination with internal and external stakeholders;
• Monitor project progress and respond effectively to changing circumstances;
• Ensure that all work meets the agreed quality standards;
• Supervise project timelines and budgets, ensuring accurate financial follow-up;
• Report on project progress and maintain close communication with the Senior Project Manager and/or Head of Projects;
• Maintain regular contact with the client regarding project status and developments.

What you bring to the table

• A completed technical degree (MBO or HBO level) in Shipbuilding, Maritime Officer (MAROF), or a related field;
• At least 4 years of experience in project management within the maritime industry;
• You are ready for the next step in your career — ideally your second or third role;
• Strong ability to manage situations that require quick decision-making; skilled in planning and collaboration;
• Customer-focused mindset with solid commercial awareness;
• Proven affinity with ship repair and a genuine passion for the maritime sector;
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Dutch.
