Job summary

Benchmark Almelo seeks a Project Manager in Design Engineering and Test Development Engineering to own a large, technically complex project from initiation to delivery. You will coordinate customers, engineering teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to meet schedule, scope, and quality targets across medical, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor programs.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of Project Management experience within a technical environment.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Medical Technology, Electronics, or related field.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and multidisciplinary teams in a demanding, high-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and customer relationship skills; English fluency required (Dutch a plus).
• Strong affinity with technology and business; ability to balance customer, engineering, and commercial priorities.
• Experience in medical, aerospace, defense, semiconductor or regulated high-tech industries is a plus.

Your mission:

Successfully deliver a large and technically complex project at pace, while balancing customer expectations, engineering execution, quality, planning, and business objectives.

As a Project Manager within the Design Engineering department and part of the Test Development Engineering team, you will initially take ownership of a large, technically complex project that requires focused and high-paced execution. You will work for clients in the medical, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries.

You are the link between customers, engineering teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. With a strong technical foundation and sound business and customer awareness, you engage credibly in technical discussions, challenge assumptions constructively, translate requirements into effective solutions, and drive decisions. In doing so, you ensure delivery on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

What are you going to do?

• Take ownership of a large, complex technical project from initiation through successful delivery.

No two days are the same. You will switch between customer meetings, technical discussions, project planning, stakeholder management, decision-making, and team leadership. You will have a high degree of ownership and autonomy, allowing you to make a direct impact on project success, customer satisfaction, and wider organization. You will join a global team of 70+ colleagues.

What would we like to see in our future colleague?

• 3-5 years of Project Management experience within a technical environment and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Medical Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and multidisciplinary teams in a demanding, high-paced environment, using technical depth to understand trade-offs, challenge constructively, and enable sound decisions.
• Excellent communication and customer relationship skills, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders; fluency in English is required and Dutch is a plus.
• Strong affinity with both technology and business, with the judgement to balance customer requirements, engineering priorities, and commercial objectives.
• Proactive and entrepreneurial, with a strong sense of ownership, the ability to delegate, and the drive to create impact beyond the direct project scope.
• Experience in medical, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or another regulated high-tech industry is considered a plus.
