Job summary

Trinamics is recruiting for a project leader within the technology and development division of a Dutch manufacturing group, delivering high-precision mechatronic modules to global OEMs. You will own projects from concept through industrialization, leading a multidisciplinary team and coordinating with system architects across international customers.

The role requires at least 5 years of leadership in high-tech environments, knowledge of DfX and strong PM skills.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience as a project leader in high-tech development or manufacturing.
• Experience leading integral projects from development through industrialization.
• Experience with high-precision mechatronic systems.
• Knowledge of Design for Excellence (DfX).
• Solid knowledge of project management methods and tools.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of projects from customer request through concept, engineering, prototyping, industrialization and acceptance.
• Set up project structure, governance and execution strategy.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team across mechanical design, mechatronics, electronics, software and manufacturing.
• Monitor costs, risks, planning and quality, escalating when needed.
• Build relationships with international customers and align across engineering cultures.
• Manage stakeholders from management to shop floor with authority to push back when required.
• Prepare projects for volume production with the group's manufacturing facility.
• Apply and improve the company's project management processes.

Our client is the technology and development division of a large, internationally operating Dutch manufacturing group. It develops and industrializes high-precision mechatronic modules for leading global OEMs in the semiconductor, medical and high-tech equipment markets. The products are often first-of-a-kind, built with state-of-the-art technology, extremely tight tolerances and ultra-clean requirements, and the work is carried out in close cooperation with the group's own manufacturing facilities.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of projects from the initial customer request through concept development, engineering, prototyping, industrialization and customer acceptance, managing scope, time and cost
• Set up the project structure, governance and execution strategy
• Lead, coach and motivate a multidisciplinary team of experts in mechanical design, mechatronics, electronics, software, precision engineering, manufacturing engineering and supply chain, in close collaboration with the system architect
• Monitor and control costs, risks, planning and quality, taking action or escalating when needed
• Build strong, lasting relationships with international customers, working across different engineering cultures and development methodologies
• Manage stakeholders at every level, from management to the shop floor: customers, suppliers and internal teams in engineering, operations and quality, with the natural authority to push back when required
• Build a sustainable working relationship with the group's manufacturing facility and prepare projects for volume production
• Apply the company's project management and development processes and contribute to their continuous improvement

What you bring

• A degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience as a project leader in a high-tech development and/or manufacturing environment, leading multidisciplinary teams
• Experience leading integral projects, from development through industrialization
• Experience with high-precision mechatronic systems
• Knowledge of Design for Excellence (DfX)
• Solid knowledge of project management methods and tools
