Job summary

Leiden Bio Science Park is seeking a Product Assurance Manager to ensure all products meet strict quality and safety requirements for scientific space missions. The role supports various design, manufacturing, and testing processes.

This full-time position, held under a temporary contract with NWO-I, offers a maximum salary of €5,758.00 gross monthly based on experience. Benefits include holiday allowance, an end-of-year bonus, and 42 vacation days.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Product Assurance manager is an advantage.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams (mechanics, electronics, optics, software) is a plus.
• Knowledge of ECSS standards and their implementation.

Overview

SRON develops measuring instruments for scientific space missions and requires a Product Assurance Manager to ensure that all products meet strict quality and safety requirements in the unique conditions of space. The role supports the design, manufacturing and testing processes from component production to spacecraft delivery.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all projects and decide whether a product can be built, whether the process is sufficiently defined, and whether the product will survive the mission.
• Approve electronic, mechanical, or software designs in accordance with established quality criteria and processes.
• Assess and improve design, manufacturing and testing processes, implement improvements with a team, and help develop new technologies.
• Handle process validation, cleanliness, electrostatic safety, traceability and overall quality assurance.

Qualifications

• College degree in engineering or a related field.
• Experience as a Product Assurance (PA) manager is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills, open communication, structured and critical thinking, and a solution‑oriented approach to challenges.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams (mechanics, electronics, optics, software) is a plus.
• Knowledge and experience in the following areas:
  • Technical disciplines.
  • ECSS standards and their implementation.
  • PA‑related assessments such as NRB, MPCB, PCB, ERCB.
  • Evaluation and validation of PMP, including cleaning, surface treatment and SMT.
• Experience with software or firmware is a plus.

Contract and Compensation

The position is full‑time, held under a temporary contract with NWO‑I (Foundation for Dutch Scientific Research Institutes) for at least one year, with the prospect of permanent employment. The salary follows the NWO salary scale 10, with a maximum of €5,758.00 gross per month, depending on education level and experience.
