Job summary

SAS NL is seeking a Principal Systems Architect to lead migration strategy and technology adoption for SAS software across international customers, including NL and UK. You’ll build trusted executive-level relationships and drive architectural guidance to maximize business value from SAS platforms.

In this role, you will partner with Engineering, Publications, and Technical Support to deliver superior customer experiences, address complex issues, and shape adoption roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of multi-technology software experience.
• Experience collaborating across SAS teams and divisions.
• Significant experience with SAS 9 and SAS Viya deployments.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructures across providers.
• Advanced Kubernetes expertise and deep dive capabilities.
• Ability to travel as needed and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with customers as the expert on SAS technology use and adoption.
• Support other team members and partner with SAS groups to optimize customer experience during migration and deployment.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to provide customer feedback for software improvements.
• Resolve escalated issues and streamline resolution with SMEs.
• Define architectures and adoption roadmaps; map feedback to product/engineering.
• Execute proof points based on customer scenarios around performance and scalability.
• Engage with customers at all levels and with SAS Professional Services during implementations.
• Ensure compliance with security policies supporting secure software development.

As a member of the Applied Architecture and Technology team you will have a direct impact on both the current and future success of assigned customers on their SAS software journey, many of which are SAS largest and most strategic customers. You will do this by “rolling up your sleeves” to map a course for migrating from previous SAS versions, enabling additional and future software adoption, removing roadblocks that hinder that adoption and creating documents and utilities to enable others.

As a Principal Systems Architect, you will:

• Build an ongoing and trusted relationship with the assigned customers by being “the expert” on how the current SAS technology is being used and enabling efficient new SAS software adoption.
• Be a “technology expert” that supports other members of the team in supporting their customers
• Partner with other SAS groups, ex. Engineering, Publications, Technical Support, Consulting, etc., to deliver the best customer experience possible as it relates to migrating, implementing, using and operating SAS software.
• Work directly with Engineering and Product Management, provide customer-based feedback to enhance the software.
• Resolve escalated customer issues, either through direct resolution or streamlining the process of resolution with the appropriate subject matter expert.
• Propose, update and review customer architectures, designs and adoption roadmaps. Provide feedback and mapping to Engineering efforts.
• Define and execute proof points based on direct customer scenarios around performance, scalability, functional and operations goals.
• Work directly with the customer (ranging from admin to sr architect to director to executive) and/or SAS Professional Services during customer implementation.
• Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 12+ years of experience in multiple software technologies and domains.
• Ability to work constructively and collaboratively across independent SAS teams and divisions.
• Significant experience with implementing and operationalizing SAS 9 and SAS Viya.
• Significant experience with cloud native infrastructure technologies across multiple cloud providers.
• Advanced experience and competency in optimizing applications within Kubernetes environments.
• Advanced ability to “go deep”, ex. write code, log diving, etc. while also being able to “take it up a level” based on audience.
• Ability to thrive within an independent and collaborative working environment.
• Ability to travel when needed.
